The rule of 10

This is one of the units of the Critical Literacy course that teach us how to apply the 10 elements in order to frame a text. Meaning that we can able to put a frame to an article or writing and recognize that it has been produced in a particular context and has been motivated by particular needs. The elements are:

1. Topic

2. Content

3. Source

4. Audience

5. Rhetorical function

6. Purpose

7. Perspective

8. Positioning

9. Impact

10. Visual literacy

The right and left brain function

Sir Kamarziz, the lecturer who is responsible to deliver and teach us the course made a slide show of a presentation about the functions of right brain and left brain. In order to know what type of thinker we are, we need to know which side of brain we use when we want to apply a good essay. The right brain uses holistic synthesizing, intuitive, imagination, uses feeling and believes. While the left brain uses logical sequential, rationality, analytical and good in solving math and science. Sir Kamaraziz had a game where he wanted to know which side of brain are we in the class. As a result, I am a left brainer.

Introduction to Critical Literacy

Welcome to my Critical Literacy blog. Critical Literacy, one of the Diploma in English Communication or DEC course that teach us how to understand, to read and write for academic purposes. From my understanding, critical literacy teach us how to think critically in reading or writing a text so that we can create a good article or essay. It is relevant to tertiary study especially as DEC students in KPMIM. It helps me a lot on how to read and write a good essay and also to critic other articles.
